Rachel Zoe – 2018 Summer Box of Style

Hello Hello!!! So yes it is summer now and I know it has felt like summer much longer than when the actual season started but that is how the weather works now.  The beginning of the season means that Rachel Zoe is sending out her Box of Style.  I believe it is still available if after I show you all this stuff and you are interested.   I will say that I love the products in this box.

Beach Cover Up

So I finally had a pool day and had time to really try all this stuff out.  I love this cover up.  The white color is amazing, I love how lose it and how light and airy it is.  It was over 100 degrees these weekend and while wearing this over a pair of jean shorts (right) I didn’t even feel over heated.  It was really great.  It also looks really great if you want to wear it somewhere other than the beach.  Since it is so lose and flowy if you wear it with jean I would tuck it in the front.

The detail up on the front is really nice, makes the top very unique and separates it from all the other white beach cover ups out there.  This is a Bindya Lace Cover Up.

Straw Beach Bag

This is a straw bag that was designed specifically by Rachel Zoe.  I love this bag, I don’t have anything specifically like this in my closet so it was really refreshing.  This bag is great it fits everything with room to spare.  I was sitting by the pool the other day and was able to fit my clutch, my towel, sunscreen, water bottle, some beer and a change of clothes.  I love that it is in black and not tan like most other straw bags.  There are no pockets inside but that does not bother be since it is specifically designed to be a carry all tote for the beach.  The straps are really amazing they are breaded black and white and I think it is a great extra detail.

Whenever Rachel Zoe designs something specifically for the box of style I am always impressed with it.

Beach Towel

So this was the item that you can choose between two options as a way to personalize the box a little bit.  I picked the lighter one, for no reason other than I am really liking the pink color that is through out the towel.  The other towel has a little bit more bold and graphic print and it was hard to pick between the two.  I have never had a towel that was fringed around the edge and looked this nice.  I was a little afraid that this would get dirty easily but I used it all day at the pool and even sat on it at the edge and still looks perfect.  The towel is actually a lot bigger then a normal towel.  I actually liked this more then I expected to, this is a Skova towel.

Fringe Earrings

AHHH!! So I have been wanting to buy a pair of fringe earrings for a while now I just haven’t been able to find a pair that I really like to commit to.  So when I saw these were in the box I got really excited.  These were a white fringe that were not too big.  The concern with these was would they be heavy.  Actually no they are not, they are quite light compared to other earrings this size I own.  I wore these recently to dress up a really casual outfit.

Lastly, Kate Glow Moisturizer

The timing of sending me a moisturizer we great, I had just used up all of mine and was looking forward to not having to buy another moisturizer.  So this is my least favorite product.  The smell is not my favorite but I prefer none scented (its just me), the scent is okay just not for me.  As a moisturizer it is pretty good but I would say compared to others it is not absorbed into the skin as quickly and tends to sit on top.  So I probably would not independently buy this product but I will continue to use it.

Overall I really love most of these products and think I will get a good amount of use out of all of them.  So the box of style is the most expensive subscription box, so is it worth it?  I think that if you are a beach/ pool person you will get a great amount of usage and it is worth it.

Day Trip

Hello Hello!! So as I previously said I am moving and actually moving pretty far so I had to take a day trip to look at apartments. So this is what I wore when I was wondering around a new city looking at new apartments and exploring in general. I wanted something comfortable, breathable, and what I can wear all day while being moving. Also in case of the worst happening and I missed my flight home I brought a large tote that I carried an extra set of clothes.

First and fore most I wore this cargo jacket with all its pockets, which are essential when travelling. I love wearing this jacket when I am in the airport, it allows easy access to the pockets that are helpful when going through security and getting on the plane. Also for convenience this tote bag is a travelling essential to me. I literally bring this every time that I travel, it has great internal pockets and fits under the seat in front of me so its convenient for travelling.

So I went for casual and and loose. I know I say loose and yes I am wearing skinny jeans but skinny jeans are part of my casual wardrobe. So I went with my favorite skinny jeans and cuffed the bottom. I wore this loose polka doted top that was airy and comfortable to wear all the time. Finally I wore these Toms sneakers because I love them and thought they would be super comfortable. Typically they are very comfortable, I will concede they are not made for walking around for 12 hours in, but I dealt with that.

Casual Night Out

Hello Hello!!  Sorry I know I have been MIA and I apologize, but on the upside I have figured my life out (at least I think so) and I will be moving soon!!  Ahh so exciting, I cannot wait.  And yes this is the reason I have been so lax on posting.

Anyways I bought a dress awhile back that I have been dying to wear.  I was curious on how it would look since it is midi length and I am a little on the short side.  I wondered if I would just look short in it.

I agree that it does cut my legs but since I belted the dress high I do not think it makes me look as short as I thought.  There is also slits on the side of the dress that goes to mid thigh that I think adds something to the look.

I have been dying to wear this dress because of how comfortable it is, initially I thought I could wear this as a summer dress on Friday.  As it turns out the neckline is much lower then I thought it was so I will not be wearing this to the office.  I am still happy I bought it, it is a super cute casual dress.  So my friend was visiting and we were getting some drinks, and it is really hot out so I thought why not this dress?  It worked really well for the occasion.

Lately I have been loving very low necklines, I am not really sure why.  But I have bought a few tank tops and dresses that have low necklines.  I am really feeling this trend.

Travel outfit

Hello hello!!! So I was traveling this past weekend to Chicago. I love Chicago and had an amazing time. But Chicago in March isn’t always warm. So planning a travel outfit for the temperamental weather is a tough.

To Chicago.

So I was trying to layer up and bring a few coats that I wouldn’t have to pack in my bag. So I wore a pair of basic jeans with a grey vneck. I wore a bomber jacket over a fleece.
In the end I decided to wear my military boots. I did have a debate in my head about this but decided these were best. They have a zipper on the side which makes getting through security easier. Also wearing these means I didn’t have to pack them.

On the way back

On the way back I stuck to the basics. The military boots and skinny jeans. On top of wore a flowy sheer navy top, it was light and easy for flights. Layers are best when flying so I wore my grandpa cardigan. I also wore my fleece just didn’t picture it.

A Day for the Irish

Hello Hello!!  St. Patty’s day is on a Saturday it will be fun they say, it will be a great time.  Haha.  I kid it was a pretty normal day I actually went about like it was a normal Saturday.

But what do you do when you go into your closet and you realize you do not own any green.  I have no idea why this is one of the only colors that I do not own anything in, but it just is.  I just do not look in good in green as I do in blue so I usually do not buy green.  So a few days ago I was in a predicament that I had no green and St. Patty’s day was around the corner.  So I just wore one of my olive green jackets and hoped that counted.  Many a people did ask where my green was and I just shrugged I wasn’t going to go out and buy a color that I don’t typically like to wear for one day.

So in order to highlight the fact that this jacket is in fact green I wore all black.  I wore black skinny jeans with a black sheer top, I didn’t tuck the top in at all just left it as a more casual look.  Weirdly its still cold outside so I wore a pair of over the knee boots, mostly to keep me warm since the rest of this outfit is not very warm.  To top it all of my bomber jacket.

Over the Knee Boots

Hello Hello!!  Sorry for being absent for a little while there, I was trying to figure out my life and what I wanted to do.  Still haven’t quite figured it out but I know one thing I want to do, I want to move to a bigger city so I will try to make that happen.  In the mean time I will try to not be an absent blogger in the future.

So have you guys ever found an item of clothing that you absolutely loved but talked yourself out of buying because you don’t really need it?  Well I have done this a few times and most recently with a pair of over the knee boots.  I love them and every time I saw someone on instagram wearing them I wanted them even more.  But I didn’t buy them every time because I figured I had a pair kind of like them, which I did have a pair of over the knee boots already in grey.

So I just kept the page up on my browser and would look at them every so often and think about buying them.  Then one time I looked and they were on sale, 40% off.  I would link these but they appear to be all sold out.  They are Vince Camuto over the knee boots.  So what I love about these are the details on the top and around the ankles.  They are these laser cut out pieces that add a lot of extra detail to boots that would otherwise not have any.  So long story short after a debate I bought them.  So happy about this purchase.

Now they are suede so you do have to seal them before you wear them in order to protect them from the elements.  I have used a few different products to do seal my suede clothes and shoes and have been happy with it, this one or this one.

But once I sealed these boots and it wasn’t raining out, I was all about wearing these boots out and about.  The suede is seriously the softest I have felt and they just feel luxurious.  I love wearing them, I wore them on back to back days at work, no regrets.  Yes it is getting warmer out so I am trying to get as much out of them as I can before I retire them for the season.

I will say that they are a little tight on my calves, I thought I would have a little room but once I put on skinny jeans there is not much.  They are for 15 inch calves which should provide me with enough breathing room but I think they are a little smaller then 15 inches.

Basics: Belts

Hello Hello!!  I want to talk about something that I personally do not really like but are necessary to every wardrobe, Belts.  And I am not talking fancy belts that can make your outfit look better.  I am talking about belts that actually keep your pants up.

So I have been vehemently opposed to belts.  I don’t really know why exactly maybe it is a combo of this.  First, I don’t really like the bulge they put right around your waist.  Like no I don’t need any more attention pointed in this direction.  Second, every time you go to the bathroom it is like this extra process.  And then, I cannot find a belt that functions as a belt but is also cute, you either get one or the other.

Lately I had a pant size that worked really well I did not need a belt to keep them on, they were prefect.  So what caused me to look into this again?  Well on black Friday I was buy pants, and yea the line for the fitting room was longer then the one to check out so I was only trying on a few and doing it as fast as possible.  So I tried on 2, I knew my size so no big deal.  But I picked the wrong length and just switch the pants and didn’t try them on again.  Turns out these new pants were a little loser then the other ones.

So yes these are the pants that I have been looking for an answer for but did not want to buy a belt.  Well I saw on amazon this buckleless belt.  And I had to figure out what this was.  So the first few times I was trying it out, it felt really weird, and I spent significant amount of time trying to get the size of the belt right.

So this belt is basically an elastic band that has snaps on both sides and a metal clasp to adjust the length of the belt.  So when you put this one the snaps go around the belt loops that are on either side of the button and you thread it through all the other belt looks.  So this is nice because you do not have any buckle in front, these snaps do not push out from the line of the body, and you do not have to undo and redo the belt every time you go to the bathroom.

Once I got the length perfect, this made the belt perfect.  So I wore this out last night and I had no issues.  It was a million times more convenient then an actual belt with a buckle. It made the pants really feel like they fit perfectly.  Given the price I would highly recommend at least giving this a try.

Especially since I was tucking my shirt, it was made all the more convenient.  Then with the snaps, I mean they do stick out but they do not look bad.  In the future I might do something to make the snaps not stick out too much.
