A Day for the Irish

Hello Hello!!  St. Patty’s day is on a Saturday it will be fun they say, it will be a great time.  Haha.  I kid it was a pretty normal day I actually went about like it was a normal Saturday.

But what do you do when you go into your closet and you realize you do not own any green.  I have no idea why this is one of the only colors that I do not own anything in, but it just is.  I just do not look in good in green as I do in blue so I usually do not buy green.  So a few days ago I was in a predicament that I had no green and St. Patty’s day was around the corner.  So I just wore one of my olive green jackets and hoped that counted.  Many a people did ask where my green was and I just shrugged I wasn’t going to go out and buy a color that I don’t typically like to wear for one day.

So in order to highlight the fact that this jacket is in fact green I wore all black.  I wore black skinny jeans with a black sheer top, I didn’t tuck the top in at all just left it as a more casual look.  Weirdly its still cold outside so I wore a pair of over the knee boots, mostly to keep me warm since the rest of this outfit is not very warm.  To top it all of my bomber jacket.

Over the Knee Boots

Hello Hello!!  Sorry for being absent for a little while there, I was trying to figure out my life and what I wanted to do.  Still haven’t quite figured it out but I know one thing I want to do, I want to move to a bigger city so I will try to make that happen.  In the mean time I will try to not be an absent blogger in the future.

So have you guys ever found an item of clothing that you absolutely loved but talked yourself out of buying because you don’t really need it?  Well I have done this a few times and most recently with a pair of over the knee boots.  I love them and every time I saw someone on instagram wearing them I wanted them even more.  But I didn’t buy them every time because I figured I had a pair kind of like them, which I did have a pair of over the knee boots already in grey.

So I just kept the page up on my browser and would look at them every so often and think about buying them.  Then one time I looked and they were on sale, 40% off.  I would link these but they appear to be all sold out.  They are Vince Camuto over the knee boots.  So what I love about these are the details on the top and around the ankles.  They are these laser cut out pieces that add a lot of extra detail to boots that would otherwise not have any.  So long story short after a debate I bought them.  So happy about this purchase.

Now they are suede so you do have to seal them before you wear them in order to protect them from the elements.  I have used a few different products to do seal my suede clothes and shoes and have been happy with it, this one or this one.

But once I sealed these boots and it wasn’t raining out, I was all about wearing these boots out and about.  The suede is seriously the softest I have felt and they just feel luxurious.  I love wearing them, I wore them on back to back days at work, no regrets.  Yes it is getting warmer out so I am trying to get as much out of them as I can before I retire them for the season.

I will say that they are a little tight on my calves, I thought I would have a little room but once I put on skinny jeans there is not much.  They are for 15 inch calves which should provide me with enough breathing room but I think they are a little smaller then 15 inches.

Basics: Belts

Hello Hello!!  I want to talk about something that I personally do not really like but are necessary to every wardrobe, Belts.  And I am not talking fancy belts that can make your outfit look better.  I am talking about belts that actually keep your pants up.

So I have been vehemently opposed to belts.  I don’t really know why exactly maybe it is a combo of this.  First, I don’t really like the bulge they put right around your waist.  Like no I don’t need any more attention pointed in this direction.  Second, every time you go to the bathroom it is like this extra process.  And then, I cannot find a belt that functions as a belt but is also cute, you either get one or the other.

Lately I had a pant size that worked really well I did not need a belt to keep them on, they were prefect.  So what caused me to look into this again?  Well on black Friday I was buy pants, and yea the line for the fitting room was longer then the one to check out so I was only trying on a few and doing it as fast as possible.  So I tried on 2, I knew my size so no big deal.  But I picked the wrong length and just switch the pants and didn’t try them on again.  Turns out these new pants were a little loser then the other ones.

So yes these are the pants that I have been looking for an answer for but did not want to buy a belt.  Well I saw on amazon this buckleless belt.  And I had to figure out what this was.  So the first few times I was trying it out, it felt really weird, and I spent significant amount of time trying to get the size of the belt right.

So this belt is basically an elastic band that has snaps on both sides and a metal clasp to adjust the length of the belt.  So when you put this one the snaps go around the belt loops that are on either side of the button and you thread it through all the other belt looks.  So this is nice because you do not have any buckle in front, these snaps do not push out from the line of the body, and you do not have to undo and redo the belt every time you go to the bathroom.

Once I got the length perfect, this made the belt perfect.  So I wore this out last night and I had no issues.  It was a million times more convenient then an actual belt with a buckle. It made the pants really feel like they fit perfectly.  Given the price I would highly recommend at least giving this a try.

Especially since I was tucking my shirt, it was made all the more convenient.  Then with the snaps, I mean they do stick out but they do not look bad.  In the future I might do something to make the snaps not stick out too much.

Day Time Art Exhibit

Hello Hello!!  So there has been this really chill art exhibit showing in town and I have been dying to go.  I convinced a friend and we went a little before noon before I had to meet up with someone for lunch.

Now I tend to struggle the most with dressing for casual events with friends, typically I want to dress up too much.  When I am by myself I never have to think about the fact that if I dress up too much me and my friends will look like an odd couple.  So I actually tried on this outfit first and decided against it.

So it is a pretty dark outfit.  I love this top with the lace details on the front and the back.  Paired this with these dark blue jeans and heeled booties makes for a really cute outfit.  But given how dark the shirt is and how dark the jeans are it felt like this was a little more night appropriate.  So I decided to change the top.

I already had the jeans on and they were cuffed pretty good to work with the booties so I didn’t want to change those and start all over again.  I went into my closet looking for a different top that wouldn’t be as fancy.

I landed with a classic V-neck, this is actually one that I bleached out the graphic on it.  So this is one of my go to casual shirts, made even more casual by the fact that there is a graphic on the front.  Now that I am here I felt like it was too casual.  So what a predicament.

So I just decided to tuck the shirt in.  I love tucked shirts.  They are the best.  I pair them with skinny jeans and it gives a very different feel to the outfit.  I love the waist that I get when I tuck in shirts.  I feel like I get longer legs and a skinnier waist with these.

My Go To Casual Outfit

Hello Hello!! So I have realized that I rely on one outfit to do a lot of work in my wardrobe, especially for my work casual days. This is such a great outfit that works in so many different settings. I have worn variations of this outfit to work on casual days, out running errands, and to dinner with friends. (I would also consider wearing it on a chill date, not like the first date but like third or fourth, lol).

Alright so why do I pick this outfit? Well I absolutely love this cardigan, instead of a pattern on the waterfall it has this texture which just makes it look really cool. For a casual look I typically pair it with a v-neck, the left was worn to work on a casual day and the right to run some errands. Since the cardigan is so dark I don’t like to pair it with my dark wash jean and instead go for my lightest pair.

Then I obviously finished it with my favorite pair of booties, these are amazing I will take any excuse to wear these shoes.

Rachel Zoe Winter Box of Style Review

Hello Hello!!  Now I am going to be very honest that this box was not shipped very quickly so I was really annoyed that it barely came in time for the new year.  With that in mind I want to talk about the winter box.  Now I debate cancelling my subscription for this every time it comes up because it is a lot of money.  It is $99 for each season, which I can do but I always think it is a lot of money.

The winter 2017 RZ box of style is by far the best one I have gotten, it is my favorite.  I opened it and unwrapped everything and was just super excited about what Rachel Zoe picked.  I couldn’t wait to wear the accessories.

So what did Rachel Zoe send?  She sent a box clutch (I chose marble print), House of Harlow earrings (Yes Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow), faux fur scarf, liquid eyeliner pen, essential hydrating oil, and a planner.  (I am least excited about the planner, mostly because I use my phone but maybe it will force me to write things down more.

Box clutch

Ahh!! I love it!!  This is great, you could pick it in the marble with gold accents to black with silver accents.  Both were really amazing and I would not have minded either but I like gold more than silver right now so that is the one I picked.  This clutch is big enough for your credit cards, phone and any other essentials.  I also love that it comes with a cross body strap, so it is very convenient to carry when out.

They are gold and skarlie and they dangle.  They frame your face so well.  These earrings are just so amazing, they can literally go with anything.  In the pic on the left I am just wearing them with a sweatshirt and they feel amazing.  The one downside is that they are a little heavy, but since I wear them out I am not too concerned about that.

In the words of Rachel Zoe from the unboxing video “No one is going to punish you for being glamorous.”   You tell it Rachel Zoe.

Faux Fur Scarf

This scarf makes me feel so fancy and put together when I go out in the winter.  I am not normally a scarf person, I for the most part only wear them in the winter and think they get in the way the rest of the time.  This scarf is great, it is warm and a perfect length. Long enough to be beneficial but not too long to be in the way.  I love that one has a hole so you can thread the other side through it.

Others (eyeliner, hydrating oil and planner)

Don’t get me wrong I love these two but much harder to take a picture of.  The eyeliner is really great, creates a nice smooth line.  I use eyeliner every day so I use it all the time.  Hydrating oil is supposed to replace your lotion, I am not really a fan of the peppermint smell but it does work.  The planner is making me try to organize my life a little more.  It has these great quotes in it every month.  Here are a few,

Rachel Zoe: “style is a way to say who you are without having to speak”

Meryl Streep: “be strong enough to let go and wise enough to wait for what you deserve”

Diane Von Furstenberg: “life is very short. insecurity is a waste of time”

I Went On A Date!

Hello Hello!!  I know I know, surprise surprise I never go on these.  I am a little surprised to go on one.  But it has been like 5 months since my last one so I guess I was due.  Haha.  Maybe in the new year I will be more open to more people and go on more of these, but probs not.

Anyways, we went to this neighborhood of town where you kind of just walk about and get drinks and look at art.  So dressing for a date where we are going to be outside walking and then inside having some drinks was a little difficult, I don’t really enjoy being cold.

So I went with dark skinny jeans because I think they look best on me, I paired those with these grey over the knee boots that I love so much.  On top since my bottoms are so tight I wanted a looser top.  I wore this lose white top, it is a short sleeve top so I felt my my arms needed more protection even if I was going to wear a coat so I added my burgundy cardigan.  Then for extra added sparkle I wore this necklace.

As I said before the date plan was to send a significant amount of time outside, which in January isn’t the best idea so I needed a coat.

I wore my classic black wool coat.  I wanted to wear a hat so badly but I always feel like I cannot wear a hat on a date because it will mess up any time I spent doing my hair. So instead I wore this pho- fur scarf.  I really liked how it looked and thought it kept me warm enough without needing a hat.
