What should I wear to my friend’s wedding?

Hello Hello!!  So one of my friends is getting married and I am having this huge debate in my head about what I should wear.  When I first got the invite in my head I have already decided what to wear.

So I love this dress, I think it is a very flattering look and fits me very well.  I love that it is lose on top and the skirt is tight.  This for me creates the illusion that I have a smaller waist then what I actually do.  The slit in front makes if fun and flirty and perfect for a wedding.  I personally love this dress.

But I was texting my sister asking her opinion and it made me question my decision.  She said that it looked beige and didn’t really look good.  So then I went back to the drawing board and came up with a few other options.

So I just got this skirt and its a little fancy so I have been dying to find a place to wear it to.  Both of these options have the same skirt but different shirts.  One is a tight grey shirt and the other is a lose shear navy shirt.

This gold pleated midi skirt is amazing and looks super fancy, I love that.  I actually had to hem it so it is a midi on me, I am short.  But now that I hemmed it and it actually hits mid calf, I am ready to wear this out.  So I like the dark shirt look with this skirt, I think it really allows the skirt to shin and be the center of attention.  I think this would also be very wedding appropriate, as it is fancy enough but not over the top.  I also think it will be great for dancing, will allow me to move around a little more freely then the other one.

If you have an opinion please let me know, I am open to other people’s opinions.

Also if I wear the skirt I will cover up the elastic band with a belt.

Tailoring is Key

Hello Hello!!!  So as some of you may know or have noticed I am a short person.  I am 5’2 and a half.  Being this short I have perfected climbing on the counters in order reach things, jumping in grocery stores in order to get what I want.  But clothing for the most part is not too much of an issue.  Tops are super easy because I just have short legs.  Pants I don’t have too much of an issue because you can buy those with a specific inseam.

Skirts I have to be a little bit more careful about because they tend to be styled for a taller person in mind.  I have been looking for a pleated skirt in a metallic color, not sure why.  I found this skirt, it is designed to be a midi so I was kind of concerned because midis tend to be maxis on me.

So it basically looks like a short maxi, so my worry was valid.  But this skirt was pretty cheap so I just intended on hemming it myself.  The hem on this skirt is pretty unfinished so I figured I could straight cut it and have no issues, and if it frayed it would only get shorter which I did not have issues with.  (if it continued to fray it might end up as a mini and I think I like the look of that)  Anyways I decided to cut 3 inches off (I am not typically a sewer so if I can fix this skirt you can too).

I personally think it looks so much better as an actual midi length.  So do not be afraid to hem anything or go to the tailor to get something professionally hemmed, it is worth it.  Now I love this skirt, and I cannot wait to wear it out.  The left was just for comparison sake to show you the same outfit again.  The right was right after I finished hemming it so ignore the straps of my sports bra under the shirt.

Decisions decisions

Hello hello!! So this past weekend it was kind of cold and raining a bit, obviously the best thing to wear is boots.  So I was wearing skinny jeans and wanted to pair them with a cute pair of booties.

So the options are brown or black.

So yes, this outfit is very similar and does not change too much with the change of the shoes.  The brown boots stick out a bit more and catch a little more attention.  The rest of the outfit is muted and so allows the brown boots to be louder.  The black boots in this outfit are a little more go with the flow.  But then the heel of the boots pops out due to the metallic heal.

So which did I chose?  I went with the brown boots to make a little bit more of a statement.  I kind of went to a dive bar and the black boots felt a little too fancy.

Zara

Hello Hello!!  Now I know some of you guys are like how did you not know about Zara.  Well to answer that question, I have lived in places that did not have a Zara.  And yes that is a very sad day that I never was able to shop there prior to my trip to the Twin Cities.

So any ways recently I went to the Twin Cities and there is a very large Zara in the Mall of America.  This store is amazing there is something in this store for everyone.  I do not shop at malls very often so I wasn’t buying anything but the one place I wanted to stop before we left was Zara.  I just want to say the minute I walked in I saw so many things I wanted to try on.  I was talking through the store just picking up things left and right to try on.

I bought a few things – I talked about the first one already, this green dress.

Second – I bought this coat

This coat is just a really soft casual coat.  It is just a big slouch coat that goes down to mid-thigh.  The length I thought would be weird but actually when worn with tight clothes it looks really good.  Like here were I paired it with skinny jeans and a tight top.  I have also worn this to work when I wear a work dress.

Lastly I bought this amazing all over lace bell sleeved top.

I absolutely love all over lace tops, I think they are so feminine and romantic and lately these types of shirts have been my speed.  I have been looking to try bell sleeves for a while and this shirt kind of was just amazing when I tried it on.  I didn’t think I would like the color but I actually do.  The V-neck on this shirt is amazing, it is cut perfectly.  The V-neck is cut narrow and deep which is great because it shows off your cleavage without being too much.

Emerald Dress

Hello Hello!!  A few weeks ago I meet up with one of my best friends and I actually went to a mall for the first time in forever.  (I hate malls, I think they are overly crowded).  Anyways while we were walking around I didn’t really see anything I liked until we got to the last store and then I wanted to buy everything.  What was the last store?  Zara!  I am going to share my thoughts on Zara in a later post but I wanted to rave about one specific thing I bought.

Ahh I love shift dresses, they are so lose and free to be styled however you want.  This shift dress caught my eye right when I walked in the door.  The ruffled sleeves are super cute.  Combined with the v-neck of this dress.  I just want to say the cut of the v-neck is perfect, its low but does not show too much cleavage.  Actually the bright red color of this dress caught my attention but it was not in my size.  I hesitated with the green because its not usually my color but my friend convinced me to try it on anyways.

I am so happy I did, this dress fit me perfectly and at that point I could not leave the store without it.  And the green color is amazing, since I have blue eyes I usually avoid that color but I really liked how this dress looked.

Stevie Nicks Concert

Hello Hello!!  So exciting, I went and saw the legendary Stevie Nicks in concert!!  Seeing her in concert was on my bucket list of concerts I want to go to, as well as Fleetwood Mac.  (If you do not know who that is please look her up she is amazing)

So what do you wear to a Stevie Nicks concert?  She is the queen of boho chic.  Obviously you wear something lace!

Actually to be honest I forgot to take a picture, was probably too excited to leave and get to the concert, but I actually wore a pair of booties.  I know booties in August, but I saw her in Minnesota and no one told the Twin Cities it was summer out.  So the booties actually went with the boho chic vibe I was going for.

By the way the concert was amazing, I highly suggest going to see her.

I love lace shirts

Hello hello!!! I don’t know about you but I absolutely love lace shirts.  I have almost no control when I see one I like, I need to buy it and add to my wardrobe.  Sometimes there is lining and sometimes there is not.  They just give this sophisticated vibe but also a sleek/ sexy edge that I love.

Anyways, I was in Milwaukee this weekend for Summerfest, if you don’t know what that is it’s an 11 day music festival and it’s awesome.  So I went on the forth and the temp was almost 80 during the day but once the sun went down it was going to drop, and the festival is on a lake so it’s a little cooler.  So I was deciding what to wear, I knew pants would be best but the top was up in the air.  I was having a debate between 2 new lace shirts.

So my debate was between wearing white lace or black lace.  The white lace shirt is not lined but with how the lace is it’s not too noticable.  My plan is to not wear an undershirt when I wear it going out, it will have an edge.  I was wearing it with a nudish bra but I feel like when I wear it to a bar a black bra will look sweet.  The black lace shirt is a crop top and it does have lining in it.  I’m not sure if I’m a fan of it being lined but the shirt looks great none the less.  I like that it showed off my stomach.  So both these shirts would be breathable for the day time but provide enough coverage that at night it would be warm enough.

So which one did I wear?  I personally loved the white lace outfit, because it was white and was longer.  My sister loved the black one because she thought it looked better.  So we had a disagreement, then I took pictures and decided to wear the black lace top.  It was amazing and worked out well.

I cannot wait to wear both of these in the future.
