Over the Knee Boots

Hello Hello!!  Sorry for being absent for a little while there, I was trying to figure out my life and what I wanted to do.  Still haven’t quite figured it out but I know one thing I want to do, I want to move to a bigger city so I will try to make that happen.  In the mean time I will try to not be an absent blogger in the future.

So have you guys ever found an item of clothing that you absolutely loved but talked yourself out of buying because you don’t really need it?  Well I have done this a few times and most recently with a pair of over the knee boots.  I love them and every time I saw someone on instagram wearing them I wanted them even more.  But I didn’t buy them every time because I figured I had a pair kind of like them, which I did have a pair of over the knee boots already in grey.

So I just kept the page up on my browser and would look at them every so often and think about buying them.  Then one time I looked and they were on sale, 40% off.  I would link these but they appear to be all sold out.  They are Vince Camuto over the knee boots.  So what I love about these are the details on the top and around the ankles.  They are these laser cut out pieces that add a lot of extra detail to boots that would otherwise not have any.  So long story short after a debate I bought them.  So happy about this purchase.

Now they are suede so you do have to seal them before you wear them in order to protect them from the elements.  I have used a few different products to do seal my suede clothes and shoes and have been happy with it, this one or this one.

But once I sealed these boots and it wasn’t raining out, I was all about wearing these boots out and about.  The suede is seriously the softest I have felt and they just feel luxurious.  I love wearing them, I wore them on back to back days at work, no regrets.  Yes it is getting warmer out so I am trying to get as much out of them as I can before I retire them for the season.

I will say that they are a little tight on my calves, I thought I would have a little room but once I put on skinny jeans there is not much.  They are for 15 inch calves which should provide me with enough breathing room but I think they are a little smaller then 15 inches.

Military Style Boots

Hello Hello!! So lately I have been looking for a boot to be an in between in my wardrobe. Currently in my wardrobe I have snow boots (real heavy duty nice Sorel boots) and I have knee high leather rider boots. In the winter I am always at this weird place of its not snowing and there is no real snow on the side walk so the Sorels do not seem appropriate, but then there are the knee high boots that when I am just running errands seem too fancy.

A few weeks ago I saw one of my friends wearing these really cool looking military boots, and I thought maybe if I get a solid pair of these they could become my “utility” boots that I can wear. I really want to wear them when I am running errands on the weekend, walking to the gym and walking to work. I found these boots

So when I first took them out of the ASOS box I was super skeptical about them. Would I wear them? Are they too butch for me? Will I like wearing them? How will they handle some snow?

I had a lot of thoughts, these are not my typical style and are a little outside my comfort zone but they were a reasonably price and I really wanted to try. So I kept them even after a length conversation with my sister who said that she didn’t like them. My main worry was were they too butch.

I wore this outfit over the weekend, yea I worry about looking butch and the first thing I wear them with is a cargo jacket but it was warm out this weekend and I wanted to wear this coat. Actually this time out running errands made me love these shoes. I was wearing them out and walking around with the melting snow all over and just was so happy I bought these. They were just so easy to put on and so comfortable to wear around.

Yea I wear them when I walk to the gym so it is a lot of workout leggings and these sweaters that I love to wear when I lounge around. I personally think that these boots seamlessly fit in my wardrobe. I also don’t think they look butch with how I wear them.

My Go To Casual Outfit

Hello Hello!! So I have realized that I rely on one outfit to do a lot of work in my wardrobe, especially for my work casual days. This is such a great outfit that works in so many different settings. I have worn variations of this outfit to work on casual days, out running errands, and to dinner with friends. (I would also consider wearing it on a chill date, not like the first date but like third or fourth, lol).

Alright so why do I pick this outfit? Well I absolutely love this cardigan, instead of a pattern on the waterfall it has this texture which just makes it look really cool. For a casual look I typically pair it with a v-neck, the left was worn to work on a casual day and the right to run some errands. Since the cardigan is so dark I don’t like to pair it with my dark wash jean and instead go for my lightest pair.

Then I obviously finished it with my favorite pair of booties, these are amazing I will take any excuse to wear these shoes.

I Went On A Date!

Hello Hello!!  I know I know, surprise surprise I never go on these.  I am a little surprised to go on one.  But it has been like 5 months since my last one so I guess I was due.  Haha.  Maybe in the new year I will be more open to more people and go on more of these, but probs not.

Anyways, we went to this neighborhood of town where you kind of just walk about and get drinks and look at art.  So dressing for a date where we are going to be outside walking and then inside having some drinks was a little difficult, I don’t really enjoy being cold.

So I went with dark skinny jeans because I think they look best on me, I paired those with these grey over the knee boots that I love so much.  On top since my bottoms are so tight I wanted a looser top.  I wore this lose white top, it is a short sleeve top so I felt my my arms needed more protection even if I was going to wear a coat so I added my burgundy cardigan.  Then for extra added sparkle I wore this necklace.

As I said before the date plan was to send a significant amount of time outside, which in January isn’t the best idea so I needed a coat.

I wore my classic black wool coat.  I wanted to wear a hat so badly but I always feel like I cannot wear a hat on a date because it will mess up any time I spent doing my hair. So instead I wore this pho- fur scarf.  I really liked how it looked and thought it kept me warm enough without needing a hat.

Night On The Town

Hello Hello!! So I did not go home for the holidays, I chose to spend Thanksgiving with my family and fend from myself around christmas.  Well a few of my friends were also in town and away from their families so we went out.  This was one of those times where you choose to go last minute so you are changing from sweats into something much better.  I kind of just went into my closet and this is what I ended up with.  I am so happy about it, I can’t wait to wear them again.

I love wearing my loose tank tops tucked into my skinny jeans.  It just elongates my short legs (so I will take all the help I can get there), and makes my waist a little bit more pronounced.  I do love wearing a black skinny jean out, I think they just look the best and also hide any issues with my legs.

So as I stated it is winter here and I do get chilly so I added a cardigan to just make the outfit a little bit warmer.  It didn’t matter too much because no one was out that night, my friends and I basically had the whole bar to ourselves.  I didn’t take a picture but I wore this with my faux black leather jacket.  I did this because it was snowing a little bit and the jacket blocks the wind.

I loved how this outfit looked with these booties (I am biased because they are my favorite), but I think they looked amazing.

Favorite Work Casual Outfits

Hello Hello!!!  So my work has a policy that whenever the local school kids are not in school we can wear casual clothing.  This year went even farther we got two whole weeks of casual outfits.  I love these days because on the regular I usually live in work clothes or workout clothing. Casual clothes are my favorite outfits, I just feel like I have so much more fun when I get to pick whatever I want from my closet (within reason of needing to be appropriate at work).

So I do live where it gets below freezing and actually it went subzero so I was never more excited to see that I could wear jeans.  Jeans offer so much more protection against cold weather then anything I wear to work, mostly because I wear a lot of skirts and tights.  So here is a quick round up of my casual outfits.  Lots of boots and sweaters (remember it was subzero).

My favorite cardigan paired with my favorite booties.  And the best sweater I owned with these amazing flat over the knee boots.

So yes one day I did skip the sweater and wore this really comfortable long sleeve shirt (probably the softest thing I own).  And then we are back to the sweaters and boots.  This sweater I just got on sale at Loft I am pretty excited about this, I like that the bottom is curved like a shirt bottom.  Then these burgundy booties, I do not have an opinion on them yet.  But so far I really like them

And obviously on the coldest day I wore my biggest sweater to keep me as warm as possible, with my knee high boots.

What is business casual for women? Winter Edition

Hello Hello!! I have wanted to do another one of these post for awhile, I got a lot of positive feed back on the original that I thought it would be good to do another one.  Business causal is such an ambiguous term that I still am not sure what it fully entails.  Last week I was meeting with some lawyers for work so obviously I was wearing what I considered to be business formal (was wearing pants and a blazer) the lawyer called it business casual and I was just like sure.

So real quick I just want to give a shout out to the real work horse of my winter wardrobe, tights.  Now as I am sure a lot of you will notice I do not wear work pants, I just don’t like them and find them to be uncomfortable.  So I tend to continue to wear skirts and dresses throughout the winter which entails needing great tights.  I tend to pair these skirts with tights and boots throughout the winter.

Now I was going to change up how I do these, mostly because I have been running late in the morning recently so I haven’t had much extra time.  But I did actually take pics of my outfits this morning so yay!  Pat on the back for me.

Monday –

For full disclosure I wore a pair of brown knee high boots with this.  Without the tights I would not wear this skirt to work, why?  Well the length of the skirt is about 2 inches above the knee which on its own I think is too short.  A work skirt I feel should end at the shortest just above the knee.  But pairing the skirt with the tights the length is no longer apparent.  I added a very businessy black button up shirt on the top and it is perfect for work.  Do adding knee high boots take away from this being a business outfit?  In my opinion no, leather boots are very chic and adding them to a business outfit just adds to it.  (Now in a business formal setting I would probably not wear knee high boots).

Tuesday –

This dress is one of my more formal work dresses, if I paired it with a black blazer I would consider it a business formal outfit.  So this day it was about dressing the dress down a little bit.  Again I was wearing a pair of black tights and this day I wore low booties.  I added this burgundy waterfall cardigan to add some color to the outfit.  The cardigan while on its own is very nice, it made the very formal dress become more business casual.  Then I added some gold jewelry to brighten up the outfit.

Wednesday –

I consider this to be one of my best skirts, it has this great A-line fit, HAS POCKETS, and is amazing almost year round.  The skirt is really great paired with tights and sometimes I will tuck a sweater into on colder days.  This skirt has business written all over it.  When I pair it with a crisp white button up, this is business casual to a T.  The outfit is not too formal to be considered business formal, I would add a great black blazer to get there.  To be a little more casual change these heels out for a pair of black flats (or red flats to make a statement).

Thursday –

So for whatever reason Thursdays I tend to have a lot of meetings so I do tend to dress up a little bit more.  So again here is the sidewalk skirt (I wore it on Monday in a different color, I own 3 of them), paired with black tights.  I wore this brown skirt with a navy dressy tank tucked into it.  Since I do have a lot of meetings I added, what I call, my casual blazer.  This blazer is great because it is cotton and not stiff at all so when I wear it I don’t feel like I am wearing a blazer.  As I have said before you can dress this down more by changing the heels out for flats or knee high boots or booties and it will still be a great business casual outfit.

Friday –

Wait thats not business casual!!  Correct, Fridays are casual days at work so obviously I take advantage and wear jeans. I will talk about a question I have had for a few weeks about if these boots are appropriate for casual day at work.  So why am I asking this question if I have been wearing boots all the time?  Well these boots go over the knee, which are very in right now but there is a stimga with over the knee boots.  (When you think of them in your head you probably picture Julia Roberts in pretty woman with her black leather high heeled over the knee boots).  Which obviously these are very different, these are grey suede flat boots.

I wore them to work when I bought them not thinking too much about that they may not be appropriate.  A coworker walked by me in the hall and just said “Wow, those are some boots.”  We didn’t stop and talk so I was not sure what the meant but the rest of the day I was worried about maybe I shouldn’t have worn them.  And since then I hadn’t until this past Friday.  So what changed?  Well a few weeks ago on Friday, one of the higher up woman in the company I saw wearing very similar boots to mine only in black.  And when I saw that I was like well I am going to wear mine again next Friday, try and stop me!!  Haha.

Also current for the next few days these boots are 50% off, they are amazing and I recommend them to any one.  Btw I have 15 inch calves and I can wear them with skinny jeans no problem.
