Fleetwood Mac!!

Hello hello!! So last weekend I saw the legendary Fleetwood Mac in concert. I have seriously been looking forward to this since I bought the tickets, 6 months ago. This concert was awesome, they honestly sound amazing. There were points where I definitely cried, Stevie singing landslide live is an experience.

When deciding what to wear I kind of just sat back and thought what would Stevie wear. With that in mind I just kind of wondered into my closet and looked around. (I apologise I didn’t get full body pics, I was running late leaving and late coming home). I found this lace shirt with these large bell sleeves, in a very 70s orange.

I tucked this into a pair of black skinny jeans that I’ve owned forever. I added a pair of dark brown ankle booties. I was wearing a pair of house of Harlow earrings which I had taken out by the time I took this pic.

These are the earrings, I absolutely love them and I strive to wear them anytime I can.

Business Casual – Fall

Hello Hello!!!  So as some people may know I have moved to Chicago.  Mostly to be closer to my family and really close friends but after living in a small city for so long it feels really good to live in a large city again.  (One that has more going on).  So I have spent some time getting acclimated to the new city and trying to make friends here.

So I travel back to the main office once a month to have way to many meetings and meet with my bosses.  So I figured on that week I can do a what is business casual edition.
(With a bonus of the last day being a travel business look).

Also I would like to note that the last time I was in the office it was ice berg cold and I had to barrow a blanket from the hotel in order to survive.  So when I went this past week my plan was to be as warm as possible, lots of sweaters and tights.

Monday –

So this was probably my favorite outfit of the week.  I absolutely love this skirt, I bought it last year from Modcloth and it is one of my best investments.  The A-line skirt in this subtle brown tweed looks good with almost anything.  I paired it with a white sweater to add some pop and to stay warm.  The sweater kind of pushed the bounds of what I am normally comfortable with, it has more of an open back and wider neckline then I normally wear.  Given how conservative the front in as how conservative the rest of the outfit is, I went with it.

I paired it with tights and booties.  I just got these bootiess, they lace up the front and go to just above the ankle.  The lace ups have a really cute button detail.  I have been dying to wear these and am loving how they look with this outfit.

Tuesday –

This was probably my longest day full of meetings.  I didn’t know how many until I got into town so I was actually super happy I brought pants.  I usually dislike work pants and almost never wear them.  I had originally planned to wear the boots from above with this outfit but last minute went with flats.  I wore these stretchy work pants, with a this shirt tucked in.  I added this large cardigan since I was super worried about being cold.

Wednesday –

Ahh this is a standard for my fall/winter work wardrobe, a [sidewalk skirt[(https://factory.jcrew.com/p/womens-clothing/skirts/mini/wool-sidewalk-skirt/95435) with a top tucked in tights and boots.  Love this!!  Very comfortable and I have already talked about my love of these J. Crew sidewalk skirts in previous posts.  I tucked in this sweater, since I was worried about the coldness of my office.  The sweater is currently on sale, and is warmer then it looks.

Thursday –

This was the first day that I fully planned before flying out.  It was the one I thought about most since I was going to be catching a flight after work.  I wanted to make sure the outfit was work appropriate and was comfortable enough to travel in and sit on a flight in.  This dress has been in my closet for years and I still wear it all the time, the tweed is a timeless classic, which makes this dress great.  The dress has always paired well with boots and tights.  I added my cardigan to keep warm both in the office and on the flight.

So when I am flying directly after work I typically look for an outfit that allows some stretch.  As well as one that would not cause problems getting through security, so shoes that are easy to get off.  I liked this outfit because it was easy and warm.  I also paired with my trench coat which has the pockets I appreciate when travelling.

My being MIA

Hello hello!! Sorry for being MIA, I was on a road trip with my family travelling around to some national parks. We went to the Badlands, Mount Rushmore, Devil’s Tower, Yellowstone, and the Grand Tetons. I just want to say it was amazing and beautiful and I had a lot of fun. Check out these pics.

I spent most of the trip in sweat pants in a car but it was all worth it. I got to hike around these amazing places, break in these fabulous hiking boots and all around have a chill family vacation.

We also took the family dogs. Look how majestic this little guy looks. I wish I looked this good after hiking for a few miles.

I hope you enjoy these pics. I’ll be back soon!

Polka Dots are Back

Hello Hello!!  So a few months ago I was just looking for something with polka dots, I don’t know why but I was really like I need some dots in my life.  So I was kind of looking all over the place for a dress that I really just loved.  I found myself on asos.com which i think has the best selection of all the sites I looked at.

Now this is the dress that I bought

So yes this is a screenshot of the dress I bought.  So as you can see it is a midi length dress which as I am a short person can be a little bit of a problem.  So I forgot to take any pics of the dress before I started messing with the hem.  Now at first I was a little hesitant given how big the print was but after I got it I knew it would work.

So I messed around with the hem to get it a little bit better of a length, now I did this myself with a pair of scissors and drew on the hem of another of my dresses that I like.  I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone else, I was okay with if I messed up I was out a dress or I was going to cut the hem shorter and make a mini dress.  But I you are a little bit more worried I would recommend a tailor.

So I went with a rounded hem that comes up on the side and is a tiny bit longer in the back.  Honestly after I went after it with the scissors I was no sure how it would go.  But the minute I put it on and looked in the mirror I loved how this hem worked out.  The dress I copied was a tighter dress so I wasn’t sure how it would work out.  I LOVE IT!!  I am actually surprised how much I love it.

This is the type of dress that I really like so much.  It is lose but has this cinched waist that really stands out.  I honestly have not worn this out yet (black long sleeve dress doesn’t go well in summer).  But I am excited to mess around with styling it.  I think it will look really good with belts.

New favorite LBD

Hello hello!!! So awhile ago I was looking through Amazon and some how ended up looking Daily Ritual items (I think this is an Amazon brand). And I stumbled across this dress.

(Please ignore the bed, I was travelling for work so I just use one bed as my bags place so that is why it is a mess).

I just want to say I bought this to be a comfy casual dress so I ordered a size up, I usually wear a size S but this time I bought a M.  I even think I could go larger to get a more slouchy fit but I really like how this one fits right now.  So this dress was only $20 which is probably why I just decided to try it.  I am so happy about this dress, the material is this really soft stretchy fabric.  It is just really comfortable to wear.

Given the cut of the dress, it is one that you can dress up with some heels, a belt and a nice jacket.  What is really great about this is that it can also be casual, wear some sneakers (vans or toms) and it is a chill day dress.  I have been dying to wear this on a date but alas if you read this you know my dating life is in slow-mo so we will see.

I just love to put it on, it clings in all the right places and makes me feel good.  I wore this to walk a dog I love it so much.

Rooftop Bars

Hello Hello!!  So over the weekend it was really nice so when my friend hit me up asking if I wanted to check out some rooftop bars around the city I was all about it.  Who wouldn’t want enjoy a nice day on a sunny rooftop bar.

It was really hot so had to dress strategically to not over heat.

So I wore these paper bag shorts, they are linen and have a very high waist that is accentuated by the belt.  These shorts are rapidly becoming my go to piece this summer, because they are light and the color is amazing.  I have recently been paring it with my other go to summer item this tank.  This tank top is great it is light and flowy and just all around comfortable for summer.

I actually own this tank top in white and black.  If these shorts came in another color I would also own them in that color.  (Sorry I didn’t link the shorts, they are from Urban Outfitters and they are no longer available.)

First Few Nights Out in a New City

Hello Hello!!! Yet again I have been MIA for an extended period of time.  It was not my intention but I was moving and the old apartment was a wreck and then I moved and the new apartment was a wreck.  Then I just felt like exploring the new city and I just kind of got a little lost.  Also the lighting in my new place makes taking mirror selfies dim (I am working on it).

Any ways the first few nights I went out, it was kind of a range of temperatures.  The first weekend was really warm and the second weekend was actually cold.  This is what you get when you live in the midwest.  Spoiler alert I moved to Chicago, which is much closer to my family.

So I wore one of my favorite new dresses, this one is really causal but can be dressed up with heels and some nice earrings.  I love going out in this one especially if I go dancing since it has slits up both sides.  Makes it fun to move around in when dancing.  I typically hold the bottom and dance around.  Had a very fun time.

Next Weekend

Ahh the cold weekend which I actually kind of loved.  It was mid 70s during the day and got down to mid 60s at night.  Which made wearing jeans possible.  I love pairing my black skinny jeans with some of my lace tops.  This one is especially one of my favorites due to the opening in the back.  I went for flats because I am lazy.
